Herbert A. Krause was a long-time professor of English and writer-in-residence at Augustana College. He is also the author of three novels, numerous plays, poems, essays, and reviews. Krause was also an enthusiastic bird watcher and historian. Krause was the principal founder of the Center for Western Studies, and his papers have been in possession of the Center since 1976.
